Scooters are all sorts of fun and can be even better fun with these 10 amazing accessories.  I’ve listed them in no special order and I’ve made sure to give and explanation why they make my top 10.

Helmet with a low sun visor  Now days you can buy helmets with clear outer visors AND tinted inner low sun visors.  These tinted inner visors are awesome as you can simply flick them down to block out the worst of the suns rays that we typically experience when the sun is low in the morning and evening.  I reckon a low sun visor is essential for commuters, as you will experience low sun twice a day.  Check out my favourites HERE and HERE

Neck sock – A neck sock cuts out all sorts of chilly winds between your jacket and your helmet.  They are inexpensive and my one Velcro’s together, so if I get too warm I can simply tear it off and stick it in a pocket of my jacket while I’m at the traffic lights.   Check it out HERE

Lined Wet Weather Set – You’ll notice I said LINED wet weather set.  Yep, a wet weather set with an inner liner is soooooo much easier to put on, especially since we all wait til it spits rain before getting kitted up.  The inner liner makes even your shoes and jeans slip in there in no time.  Check out what I wear HERE

Scooter Riding Jacket – The good news is riding jackets now come in mens and women’s styles and cuts.  Good quality jackets do many things.  They keep out the worst of the weather and wind chill and if you’re unlucky enough to take a tumble, they dampen fall impact with elbow, shoulder and back protectors. They also manage abrasion by hanging together in a slide.  While we’re a pretty conservative bunch and rarely take a tumble, it’s good to know you are riding with a quality jacket as extra insurance.  Check out the mens range HERE and ladies HERE

Pannier Bags – You know what it’s like.  You get that call from your partner saying you need milk, breadcrumbs, pasta sauce, veges, chicken breasts etc on the way home. If the list is long enough this could spell disaster.  But wait!  You have a pair of pannier bags under your saddle that will nail the job nicely.  My panniers are soft bags that simple drape across the rear of my scooter and can be filled with anything I can’t fit in my under saddle storage or topbox. They have saved my behind many a time.  Get yours HERE

Scooter Riding Gloves – Gloves and a jacket should probably be compulsory like helmets I reckon.  Our all year round riders all have two pairs of gloves.  One for summer, autumn, spring and also a warmer and waterproof pair for winter or rainy days.  There are heaps to choose from so check out our range HERE and a helpful article HERE

Fog City Visor Insert – Anti fog visors are the best thing since sliced bread for riders in the cooler months.  They stick on the inside of your helmets visor and prevent that annoying fogging you can get, especially when stopped at the traffic lights.  My one simply lives inside my visor all year round, even though it doesn’t have any work to do in summer.  Get yourself one HERE

Scooter Cover – If you are parking your scooter out in the weather a great investment is to purchase a scooter cover.  Covers are amongst the most popular items we sell.  Scooter covers protect your scooter from the punishing suns rays, and also from tree sap.  As a bonus, a cover also vastly improves security of a scooter parked on the roadside.  There are waterproof covers available and you can get covers that include the shape of your windscreen or top box storage also.  There are some excellent covers on our website, just click HERE

Tyre Pressure Gauge – The best time to check your tyre pressures is when they are cold before a ride, so I have my own tyre pressure gauge near where I park my scooter at home.  Every couple of weeks I check my oil, check my tyres and clean my mirrors before I ride.  Come on, you know it makes sense.  Get one HERE

Saddle Cover – Probably the best invention since penicillin is the saddle cover.  No longer do you have to come back to your trusty stead after a rain shower to get a wet bum riding home.  Some Vespa GTS models actually come ready to accept genuine saddle cover ( click HERE), but for the rest of us, we can now buy one for most models of scooter.  Check them out HERE

Top Box – You got me!   This is actually number 11 in a top 10 shoot out, but I couldn’t leave top boxes out of the mix.  The top box is a solid box that fits on the rear carry rack of your scooter and is lockable so you can leave your more precious things in there, like loose $100 notes and your favourite helmet.  Top boxes are also great for cold products like ice cream and milk on shopping days as the under saddle storage (that is close to the engine), is a bit too warm for the Blue Ribbon.  Check out some beauties HERE
