Aug 2022
After seeing a few prototype teasers in 2021, we spotted the Zeeho AE 8 electric scooter has been recently launched for sale overseas. With its parent company CF MOTO importing into Australia, we’re thinking we may well see this model here in Australia in late 2022 or early 2023 maybe.
Here’s what we know so far.
This electric scooter is aggressively styled and propelled by a Z-Core mid-mounted liquid-cooled electric motor that puts out a maximum of 12.5kW and an astonishing 218Nm of torque. This motor offers a top speed of around 100kmph and takes it from 0-50kmph in in an eye watering 2.6 seconds.
Range is stated as up to 190km, but as we often find the real world number will be more like 60% (120km) of that figure by the time you gas it off the lights and tackle a few big hills.
The Zeeho AE8 sports a headlamp-mounted front apron, a flat footboard, “winglets” on the side panels that serve as turn indicators, a single-piece seat, arrowhead-shaped mirrors, and a pillion grab rail. There is also a small under-seat storage compartment.
The scooter packs an adaptive headlight, a 5.0-inch full-color TFT (Thin Film Transister) instrument cluster with support for updates, and an anti-theft alarm.
Braking is handled with both front and rear disc brakes, along with dual-channel ABS (anti lock braking) , and three riding modes: Sports, Eco, and Street to get the utmost in battery economy.
Suspension duties on the scooter are handled by telescopic forks on the front and a preload-adjustable shock absorber on the rear end.
We have noted that there is a standard and a ‘Sports’ version of this scooter overseas, so we’ll have to wait and see what we get here in Aus.
With the use of some quality components and the lower cost of building in China we are hopeful that this electric scooter will cope well with Sydneys traffic speeds and still retain a competitive price. It has been noteworthy that electric scooters do initially cost more to purchase, but give back over their lifetime with much lower running costs in both electric charging and servicing costs, along with a much lower emissions which makes us all feel good.
We’ll post more as it comes to hand.
